Off to the Coast

August 31, 2006  |  india  |

write to you from the tea stall in chardakkan [four stores] down the hill from oaklands. the children run by and i smile in response to their contagious laughs. the motorbikes zoom by and i watch the faces as they walk across my view. i must make the trek back up with my computer in tow, still packing to do. i leave for the south of india soon…40+ hours on the train await and i am not so eager to respond. a hospital project calls my name in machilipatnam, and another part of india to discover, a new adventure awaits.

until i return, enjoy catching up on the blog of my fellow intern here, eric. i love the different ways we all see the same things.

more pictures uploaded…see here

and as for the photo below…just enjoy my view.

  1. Hello! My name is Gabby.

This may seem strange, but I stumbled across your blog as I was researching Oaklands in Mussoorie India. Many people have probably already told you, but you write beautifully.

I am a third year architecture student in Australia, hoping to serve with EMI next year. Like many, I also find India captivating. I spent a short time in Uttarakhand last year, but didn’t reach the kind of heights that you have, from looking at the breathtaking views in your photos.

From looking at the date, it’s been a few years since you’ve been at Mussoorie, but if you have the time, would you email me your favourite things about the place and how you learnt from your time there? (though I know that would be hard to sum up)

This is quite random I know, but your blog intrigues me.

It would be nice to hear from you, if you have a moment

    Kind regards,
    Gabby.
